Volpetti

The other night I went to Volpetti and asked Claudio Volpetti himself for his favorite sandwich.  We first sampled a couple different cheeses and slowly graduated to is sharpest and very old cheese. I've never tasted anything like it. It was perfectly balanced by prosciutto, eggplant, arugula, tomato and a sour bread. Probably the richest and most delicious panino in all of Roma.

On the side, Volpetti treated me to fried zucchini flowers and cake -- because the panino wasn't enough.

The Two First Suppers - Al Bric

Al Bric is small restaurant a few minutes away from Campo Di Fiori. Definitely an oasis and a change of pace. I came here for dinner the first two nights I was in Rome with my parents.

The menu included:

- Prosciutto
- Apple Filled Duck Fois Grois
- Mezzi Bucatini with Pecorino Cheese and Pepper (the classic Roman pasta dish)
- Goat Cheese Salad (see below)

Goat Cheese Salad with Mandarin Oranges, Avocado, Olives, and Cherry Tomato.
